My Place & Yours

So like apparently I'm a week behind......

Well here is this weeks actual MPAY  - playing along with Danielle @ HelloOwl

This weeks theme is: One Thing.

Your house is on fire. The family is out. The photos are packed in the car and your brother has just came around with his ute. You have time to save one thing from your house {big or small}, just one thing.
What do you save and why?

Well I'm assuming that B, little man and the two kittens are in the ute already - If I had time to save one thing it would be......

Yep that is an external hard drive. I told B about this post and that this was what I would save. He thought it was stupid, but my reasons are quite legit I think. (He thinks I want it because I have all my TV shows on there...).

1. When we got robbed :( I backed up all my files and put them on this hard drive - vowing that every time I left the house I would put it into the little man's room so as it wasn't near my laptop in case it was stolen. (also because the nice Police Officer Lady told me that childrens rooms are rarely touched in robberies. Hot tip - hide your valuables there!)
2. ALL my little man photos are on here - It is the only back up I have at the moment
3. My work files are on there.... not that I care ATM.
4. My precious TV shows are all on here (B was a little bit correct). I am a TV addict. I have loads of shows downloaded, but rarely time to watch them nowadays thanks to my little man!

I figure that if I lost everything in a fire, my photos would be the possession that would devastate me most. B doesn't agree - he says all the memories that we need we hold in our minds. Very philosophical - but I like to look through my albums all the time.
I think I might actually burn some CD's and put them at my parents house just to be safe!!

So here is the part where you share what your one thing would be. Head over to HelloOwl and linky away!

xx

P.S. For those of you wondering - I did ask B what his 'one thing' would be in this scenario.... his response was super quick - "My Boat of course" hmmmm I hate that boat - but that's a post for another time.....

My Place & Yours

One of my favourite games to play along with :) Each week Danielle over at Hello Owl announces a theme and anyone who would like to play along gets snapping around the house and posts a couple of pics.

This week  - "Where you sit down to eat?"

B and I try to sit down to eat every night - but the little man often has an 'intuition' around dinner time and chooses to wake - in which case one of us will eat and the other will resettle the little man. Then we swap! The joys of parenthood :)

This is our dining table - We eat here 90% of the time...... the other 10% on the couch!

and FYI we don't usually have this guest at the dinner table with us...... It seems since the little mans arrival I have loosened the discipline reigns for Miss Roxy....

N.B - she was removed from the table as soon as I had taken this pic!

So play along and share with us  - where do you eat?

My Place & Yours

Each week I am a big fan of playing along with Dani over at Hello Owl in a game she calls My Place & Yours. Basically she gives us a theme and then we show her different parts of our houses etc. You then link up your post with hers and you can also click on other blogger links and find some new reads along the way.

This weeks theme is books which I am loving! I am a bookworm, I won't deny it. I love love love reading and coincidentally have spent my free time this week reading books - and spending less of my nights on the internet. I'm finding it's helping me relax but it's also getting me into bed earlier....

I must also confess that I am a speed reader.... I can't help but skim the text for interesting parts. I also reread a lot of my books again. B hates that I buy so many books -he thinks I should join a library but I hate having time constraints and I also forget to return them and end up paying cashola for fines!

Being a teacher - I am really conscious of instilling a love of literacy in the little man way before he goes to school. Reading books to children and sharing in the experiencing of texts with them is so important from a young age, it really saddens me when I get students who don't even know which way books go, or how to turn pages etc :( ...

That being said here are my pics :)

The pile of books in my bedroom I'm currently working my way through

 B's current read.......

 The little man's book collection - He's only 4 months old :)

 More of my messy books

 My teaching books

Yes I love books :) - what does your book collection look like?
Please share and join in with us!!

My place & yours!

Well it seems I've been a slacko blogger lately - truth be told B. went back to work this week so looking after the little man has been more time consuming than usual. I had quite gotten used to having sleepins :) I promise to give myself a kick and get writing tomorrow......

Anyway again I'm joining in the game over at Hello Owl - with this weeks theme being STRIPES!!.

So basically the idea is to search your house and find the stripes you have!

Here we go

 My own Arm :)
Dirtiest mop ever - must remember to wash that tomorrow!
 The blind in our bedroom
The little man in his PJ's!

So what does your house have in store for us! Join in the game and search for some stripes!

My place & yours

I'm joining in with Danielle over at helloowl and posting a pic of my place.
The theme this week is - second draw in the kitchen

After seeing Danielle's pic though - I realise I need to have a bit of a cleanout!
Anyways here is my extremely cluttered 2nd kitchen drawer!
As I look at this photo I can see many things that I can't even remember the last time I used!

So here we go! If you want to join in click on the above link and head over to Helloowl :)
