How much is too much?

So Fathers day is less than 10 days away - Is it wrong that I am so excited about it?

I decided to make B a photobook as his gift. It took FOREVER! I expected it to be a little time consuming (I made some for gifts at Christmas time) but it honestly took me a few days to complete. Mainly because now that the little man is 10 months old and on the move, I cannot just put him on the floor with a few toys - He is destructive and fast! but that is another post entirely...........

So basically I found all the photos of B and the little man as well as some of our favourites from the past 10 months and combined them with some captions written by the little guy (if he could string words together). I love it and I'm really hoping B feels the same way!
Then came all the fathers day catalogues..... So now I'm thinking do I need to get him something else? B is an active/outdoors kind of guy and has wanted a table tennis table for aggggggggggggggges.

We have never really had anywhere to store it though but now we have an undercover area out the back which would suit it well I think. So now I am contemplating getting him one but is it relevant? too much? should I wait until christmas? arghhhhhhhhhhhh

I really want to make the day special for B as he is such an awesome dad - So i'm thinking of heading to the beach with my little family and having a picnic :) Hope the weather holds up!

What are your fathers day ideas? Any family traditions for the day?

Teeth - you are ruining my weekend

I hate teeth.

There are many reasons why - I guess it goes back to being a child and having to visit that smelly dental van that came to your primary school.
Then when I had a massive toothache in high school and had to get a root canal.
Then again when I went on Christmas holidays to Merimbula and had a toothache for 3 days, couldn't sleep, eat, or see a dentist as Christmas and boxing day were on the weekend so the Monday/Tuesday were public holidays... my oh my I still remember that pain.

But most of all I hate teeth because of the little man. I can't stand seeing him in pain. This would honestly be the worst part of parenting by far. Seeing your child in pain breaks your heart. EVERY TIME.
He is such a happy bub most of the time, and generally gets through teething fairly well (or he did last time). But this time he has been dealt a cruel blow. This time he is getting 4 top teeth. At once. This has been happening for about a week and a half now. Little man will be happily playing and then all of a sudden screaming in pain. It's horrible.

Yesterday was the worst. B has been away with work this week so it makes it even more difficult (Respect to the parents who do this alone 100% of the time) because I'm the only one who can get up and console him. Teeth don't really care that I only had 2 hours sleep. Nor do they care that after trying to console him for an hour and a half (think constant screaming) I had to break my no co-sleeping rule. They also don't care that my baby is almost 10 kilos and is hard to restrain/hold tightly and cuddle.

I don't think the little man has fallen asleep in my arms since he was a wee little thing. But yesterday after crying his eyes out he did - bless him.

Ignore boobs - look at his poor red eyes :(
We don't have much planned this weekend thankfully but I do want to take the little man to the footy as he was ill last time we were going to go. Maybe this is a sign he isn't a footy fan!

So hurry the heck up please teeth! cut through and then leave the little man alone.

Gym revival #6834

Okay so a new week is beginning and I am attempting to going to start utilising my gym membership. Yep I've been paying a ridiculous amount per week since I tried to motivate myself a while back.

I got B to get me a wii fit for Christmas.... hmmmm not so much use out of that. I just find it hard to juggle work/little man/running a household. I know I'm not the only one but arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I just want to get healthy etc.

No more bad food. Exercise EVERY day.

I start tomorrow.

So this is a very short post. Mostly it's about me being accountable. I am accountable to you! Tomorrow I'm going to weigh myself and do some measurements etc. Changes will be a happening ;)

Hope you all had a lovely weekend

Home security...... Lesson learnt

Well I haven't posted in a while - To say it's been nuts around here is an understatement.
With all the Christmas and birthdays and other events we had going on in December we also got robbed.

Yep Christmas Eve - Decided to take bub to visit my hairdresser (who is also my best friends mum). Anyways we visited her for about an hour then because it was bubs first xmas and I was trying to balance out the grinch in the house I wanted to pick up a nice christmas carol CD from the plaza, and also the ingredients to make a pavlova. Yum!

So we did that and then headed home. Our house has an alarm (I've never used it), Deadlocks on all doors ( I never use) and a drive through garage which has a lockable rear roller door and internal door (access to house). So we pull up in the driveway click the remote for the garage door, then husband gets the shopping and heads inside while I get all the baby stuff + baby out. As I walk into the garage my husband comes out and says "people have been in our house" I'm like "what?!?" he proceeds to head off down the street and I stand there dumbfounded till he came back.

When I walked inside I seriously could have cried - Me having so much christmas spirit and trying to make our first christmas with bubs so special, being so organised I had already purchased and wrapped all my presents under the tree (It is rare for me to be organised!!!) and I walk in the house and find they have all been ripped open and there is crap everywhere..... and presents missing :(

So upon further investigations I found that my bedroom had been torn apart, I mean literally my underwear everywhere, clothes all pulled from my WIR and numerous other things. Then I remembered my rings. The night before in bed I had removed my wedding and engagement rings and placed them on the bedhead - and of course the one day of the year where I had forgotten to put them on, some a-hole came and stole them. They took EVERYTHING gold from my jewellery collection. I honestly didn't care too much about the jewellery or anything else they stole. Just the rings.
My Great grandmother passed away when I was 11 and gave me her wedding ring. It caused quite a bit of controversy in my family, because there were other family members who thought they should have recieved it and so on. Anyway when I got married in 2008 I had her ring remade into my wedding band so that the diamonds and gold etc could be worn. I am so upset that it was stolen!

So how did they get in? - They walked in. We left the roller door open because my husbands boat was hooked up to the car, and the internal door to the house wasn't locked. How dumb. I can't believe we were that lazy not to lock the doors, and then obviously someone around here saw that, jumped the fence and here we are.

We are lucky in the sense that our house wasn't totally trashed, and in the grand scheme of things they didn't get a whole lot, we think we interupted them when we came home as they had bags set up around the house ready to go. I just hate the fact that someone has been through ALL my stuff, someone knows exactly what we have in our house....

I don't feel safe. I lock doors compulsively. I hate being the first one to get home, so I rarely go out without my husband.
This is not me. I am independent. I am strong. I don't get scared easily.
Hope it doesn't last.

Is anyone looking for the Christmas Grinch?

So I've always known that my husband was not a huge fan of Christmas - but I thought that this year might be different!
He detests shopping and always has, so I'm quite happy to do the entire lot. Generally I ask him if he has ideas for his family, and then I try and think of things for the rest (which is usually everyone bar his brother and father). His only input most of the time is in regards to the amounts. The less spent - the better in his eyes.
That's fine - off I go and do the shopping and then wrapping afterwards - It's never been a problem for me as my family has always enjoyed celebrating Christmas, and I love buying gifts for people!!!

So this year as you know we have a new baby - he'll be 10 weeks old come Christmas time and I have to say I'm really looking forward to it! My husband however......
I fully understand that my baby will not be able to remember this christmas and the presents he is getting, but it still means something to me.

My husband first said that we shouldn't get him anything because he won't remember as he is so little. He thinks we should just take two lots of photos next year, in two different outfits :)

I love real Christmas trees - even though yes they can be messy! My husband didn't want any tree at all!!!

He doesn't even think we should get a santa photo!

Arghhhhhh I feel so frustrated  - like the grinch is sucking all of the christmas spirit out of me! It's like a constant battle and I really want to make it special now that we have kids, I think it is exciting!!!

Anyways if anyone is looking for the grinch I know where to find him!!!!

The World of Online Shopping!

Online shopping!!

Well having become a mum recently (my bub was delivered by emergency caesar) and therefore not being able to drive for 6 weeks post birth, I have found myself drawn into the world of online shopping.

To be quite honest I can be a little overzealous when shopping :) I also hate trying on clothes - I prefer just to buy them and return them with a made up excuse if they don't fit! So online shopping has become my favourite thing to do!! Having the option to be able to get up and attend to a crying baby, and still have my shopping sitting in my cart 2 hours later is also proving to be very convenient!

Today I made a Christmas list and decided to try and get some purchasing over and done with prior to December 24th - Which is usually when I head to Chadstone and take advantage of the 24 hour shopping. So I visited a few sites, trying to take advantage of cheap or free shipping where I could. Today alone I have purchased;
  • a book - 'Where the wild things are' for bub :)
  • a Wii game for my husband
  • a board game for my husband - he was reminiscing about 'The game of life' so I found it for him :)
  • Personalised bags for my best friends daughters :) They are so cute!
  • Photo calendars for my mum and mother in law
  • personalised notepads with bubs pic (also for mum and mother in law)
  • a new PS3 controller for my brother
  • a pool - for Santa to bring
  • an electronic breath tester - for my other brother
  • nappies - clearly for bub ;)
  • assorted clothing for myself
  • Tigger PJ's for bub
I have made quite a dent in my list - but there is still lots to buy.

I'd like to know.... Do you have a favourite online shopping site? Or do you have any interesting ideas for presents?

Sites I've been using today - http://www.artscow.com/ - http://www.fishpond.com.au/ - http://www.catchoftheday.com/ - http://www.toysrus.com.au/ - http://www.rizzaoriginals.com/ :)

So please hit me up with your fave sites!!

Happy Shopping!

How much does an 8 week old need?

So I have started to think about Christmas this year and now 'Santa' will be visiting our house.... My question is how much does an 8 week old baby need? Already bubs has so much stuff, there isn't really anything I can think of that is a necessity.

Clothes?? He already has a waredrobe full of sizes to grow into (More clothing options than his father has)
Toys?? What does an 8 week old baby play with?

I am at a bit of a loss as to what to buy and also ideas for others who ask....

It is going to be a hot summer so my one idea is a little pool we can wade in on scorching days but other than that? HELP :)

What do you think? any ideas for me?
